As you live in the loving presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, may you consistently experience serenity and rest.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30
is a agricultural engineering student at the Universidad de Panama. He is a member of one of Panama’s seven indigenous tribes, the Ngäbe-Buglé.
The best way to characterize Angel is as a humorous, amiable, extremely hardworking student who is exhausted but still fighting.
In order to pay for his studies, living expenses, and to support his family, he works during his downtime at a restaurant’s closing shift till one in the morning and as a cleaner at a salon.
Angel grew up attending church in his hometown province, but when he went to the city with his mother and had to balance job and school, he lost time coming to church.
Discipleship
He accepted our invitation to visit our church after we first encountered him on the campus. With Eduardo’s help, he started his discipleship journey.
He acknowledged that his troubles, burdens, and daily obligations had choked him, As he gained a deeper understanding of the gospel, he became more aware of the significance of Jesus in his life.
Jesus and friends
Despite the trials and hardships he is facing, he has found more peace and rest with Jesus in his life.
Along with finding Jesus, he also discovered a group of people who he now believes to be his family and a source of God’s unmistakable support and love.
Angel, represents a lot of hard working Panamanian students juggling between studies and work, doing whatever they can to provide for their family and send themselves to the university.
The gospel frees us from life’s worries, enables us to meet the challenges of the present, and gives us new hope as we put everything in its eternal context.
Our student center is now open.
We want the next generation to come to Jesus, enable them to live their God given calling and purpose. Our student center and worship place will serve as an avenue for them to be equipped and trained.
